Iran Ferrosilice Co.
Iran Ferrosilice Co was founded on December 7, 1982, with the goal of advancing and enhancing the country’s industrial sector. Initially based in Tehran, the company later relocated its headquarters to Semnan city. Registered under number 2044, it operated as a “private joint stock” entity.
Establishing a factory spanning 50 hectares in Semnan city, Iran Ferrosilice Company became Iran’s pioneering producer of Ferrosilicon. Using an electric arc furnace procured from the Mannesmann DEMAG factory in Germany, the company achieved a daily production capacity exceeding 80 tons, ranking among the world’s top producers.
The factory commenced its experimental operations on May 5, 1995, and by late September of the same year, it obtained an operating license from the Ministry of Industries and Mines, launching with a nominal capacity of 25,000 tons. Ferrosilicon alloy constitutes the primary product, with amorphous silicon oxide powder, branded as Microsilica, introduced as a secondary product from inception.
In 1995, with an increase in shareholders, Iran Ferrosilice sought membership in the stock exchange, transitioning into a public joint stock company. Subsequently, in 1997, it secured admission to the Tehran Stock Exchange under the symbol FROS.
Practical production of another ferroalloy, Ferrosilicon Magnesium, commenced in September 2000, with an annual capacity ranging from 3000 to 5000 tons.
In 2013, the company achieved a milestone by producing high-purity Ferrosilicon, which can be produced and sold according to customer specifications
Towards the end of the 2010s, using its license, Iran Ferrosilice initiated practical production of concrete strengthening products, including Microsilica gel and slurry, with an annual capacity of 5000 tons.
Positioned as a leading ferroalloy producer in the Middle East, Iran Ferrosilice caters to crucial industries such as iron smelting, steel production, casting, and concrete, offering world-class products like 75% Ferrosilicon, high-purity Ferrosilicon, Magnesium Ferrosilicon, Microsilica powder, and Microsilica gel, meeting both national and international standards.
In line with projections made during its establishment, including the acquisition of land and installation of essential equipment such as electric substations, foundry halls, crushers, and warehouses, Iran Ferrosilice Company started a capacity expansion initiative in 2018. The company decided to install and operate a second furnace, with a planned capacity of 25,000 tons, with implementation commencing in early 2021.
Upon completion and activation of the second furnace, the company’s production capacity across all products will more than double its current output.
